Meet Brandon: 2013 Union League Youth of the Year

As a member of the first class of graduates at Chicago Bulls College Prep, Brandon has taken advantage of the many opportunities given to him. He played on both the varsity baseball and basketball teams, was a class leader of his Marine Corps Junior ROTC program, and is college bound this fall on a full ride scholarship. And as of March, Brandon is also the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs' 2013 Youth of the Year.

Brandon was chosen from among thousands of Club members for his exceptional character, record of community service, academic performance, life-long leadership skills and ability to overcome the odds placed against him.  He was honored on March 14 at the inaugural “Youth of the Year” Dinner held at the Union League Club of Chicago, where he had to opportunity to meet Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Brandon advanced on to the State Youth of the Year competition on April 16 in Springfield representing the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs. Although he did not win the state competition, Brando was recently awarded a four-year full tuition scholarship to the Southern Illinois University where he will attend college in the fall.

"Over the years, I've been impacted by positive role models and amazing organizations,” said Brandon of his Youth of the Year award.  “I plan on taking my studies to the next level thanks to the Boys and Girls Club, and they have helped me reach my next big goal.  My family and club have had a great impact in my life, and as I look forward to the future, I know anything is possible.”

5th Annual College Fair

On April 18th 1,600 juniors from ten Noble campuses took over the UIC Forum for Noble's 5th Annual College Fair. These juniors met with representatives from over 130  colleges and universities from across the nation. Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, the U.S. Naval Academy, Washington University, Wellesley College, the University of Chicago, Northwestern, and the University of North Carolina were among the many schools participating in the event.

College represenatives from as far away as Hawaii's Pacific University traveled to Chicago to meet and recruit Noble students. Representatives repeatedly praised their interactions with our juniors. A representative from Monmouth College said, “I had such a great time meeting so many wonderful Noble students!”
