Curriculum

Noble Street educators are dedicated to helping students develop knowledge and skills to succeed in college and, afterward, careers. The Noble educational model is focused on the basics—reading, writing, math and science—with additional emphasis on community service and health and fitness. Through enrichment opportunities, students explore interests in the arts, science, health, technology and other areas and develop relationships with teachers and adult volunteers.

Principals make most decisions about the curriculum at their respective campuses. All Noble Street campus academic programs include:

  • At least one required foreign language.
  • Regular physical fitness and health instruction.
  • Single-gender, teacher-led advisory groups focused on helping students and families navigate high school and college entrance. Students are assigned to their groups and remain with the same peers and teacher for four years.
  • Collins Writing Program, which incorporates writing throughout the curriculum and standardizes writing assignments and evaluation across all classes.

Noble Street’s requirements for promotion and graduation underline the academic rigor of the model. Students must:

  • Pass all classes each year to be promoted.
  • Complete required annual community service (at least 40 hours by graduation).
  • Pass a physical fitness test.
  • Earn required enrichment credits through electives and/or after-school and summer activities.

Noble Street’s rigorous educational model focuses on helping students make up for past deficits in education and prepare for college. To achieve this, Noble campuses practice a longer school day and year, and students receive at least 25% more instructional time in reading and math.

Testimonial - Staff - Rauner - Kasie - Scopetti

“I believe our holistic approach to education separates us from many other schools.  We focus not just on behavior or results or environment; we understand the interplay of all three, which has the potential to make our school not just good, but great.”

– Ms. Kasie Scopetti, History Teacher
